Retro Picdump French Guyana 2005!! And a short story about photography...

When I was 18 1/2 years old I decided, that keeping frogs at home just was not my kind of thing. I wanted to travel and see where they come from, what the habitat looks like… and try to find a new species or at least a new morph on my own!
Packed my bags, booked a five (!!) week stay in French Guyana and went there with nothing but way to little money and a old SLR Ricoh camera. Well and like 20 rolls of ISO 100 colour film…
The lense was a combined zoom and macro lense, results were ok but somehow I managed to make it look like I traveled back in time straight back half a century!
This way, not going back to the sixties but bringing that old fully manual SLR I learnt my first lesson about the light situation in the tropics, about the ISO sensitivity and that if the sweat is running down your forehead and directly into your eyes, it is pretty darn hard to focus! About 90% of the pictures were not usable at all.
